OUR STORY
Lihiniya Gems was founded in 1983 by my father, Mr. Lahir, in the historic city of Galle, Sri Lanka. What began as a small family business operating from a humble room at the back of our family home has grown into a trusted name in natural gemstones and bespoke jewellery, serving clients around the world for more than four decades.
As three brothers, we each followed very different professional paths before coming together to help grow the family business. I previously worked in finance, risk management and advisory within a Big Four professional services firm, as well as several corporate organisations, before returning to help grow the family business, While one of my brothers manages our day-to-day operations and sourcing network. The other is a GIA Graduate Gemologist, responsible for gemstone identification, testing and quality assurance, ensuring every gemstone we offer meets the highest standards. As a proud member of the Gemmological Association of Australia, I remain actively involved in the Australian gem and jewellery industry while continuing to build on our family's legacy.
Growing up around gemstones sparked a lifelong passion for me, particularly for the creative side of jewellery design. Today, that passion is at the heart of Lihiniya Gems, where we combine generations of gemstone expertise with contemporary artisan design and traditional craftsmanship.
While we proudly serve clients worldwide, our primary focus is the Oceania region, specialising in the Australian market. From rare natural sapphires and coloured gemstones to completely bespoke jewellery creations, we work closely with each client to create pieces that are personal, meaningful and designed to be treasured for generations.

Growing up in a family that has worked with gemstones and jewellery for more than four decades gave me a lifelong passion for natural gemstones and jewellery design. Over the years, I have developed a deep understanding of how gemstones, shapes and designs come together to create truly exceptional jewellery.
I enjoy working closely with clients to source rare gemstones, redesign treasured heirlooms, and create bespoke pieces that tell a personal story. Whether you arrive with a detailed design or simply an idea, my role is to guide you through the journey and bring your vision to life.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a client's imagination transformed into a piece of jewellery that will be cherished for generations.
